DAVID’S STORY
Service Beyond the Badge: Leadership Shaped by Community
David was born and raised in Santa Fe and now he and his wife are raising their family here. From a young age, David wanted to work in law enforcement like his father and became a Santa Fe Police Explorer at the age of twelve.
When he was a teenager, David began as a Dispatcher for the Santa Fe Regional Communications Center. He worked his way up to the rank of Emergency Communications Specialist II and earned a state certification as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher before transferring to the Santa Fe Police Department to become a Public Safety Aide.
David went on to serve as a Deputy Sheriff for Santa Fe County. A few years later, in a symbolic moment of transition, Webb was sworn in to the Santa Fe Police Department with his father’s badge after his father, a longtime Sergeant, announced retirement.
Webb served in nearly every operational role within the department — rising through the ranks from Patrol Officer to Lieutenant. His leadership roles include supervising the Special Victims Unit, Criminal Investigations Section, Patrol Section, Traffic Unit, Animal Services, Public Safety Aide, Criminal Intelligence, DWI Enforcement, and Narcotics, among others.
A seasoned law enforcement professional with deep roots in the community and a multi-generational legacy of public service. Leadership, Training & Technological Innovation. Webb holds numerous specialized certifications including Computer Forensic Examiner, Master Emergency Vehicle Operator Instructor and General Police Instructor (State of New Mexico). He is a graduate of the FBI LEEDA Trilogy program, encompassing the Supervisor, Command, and Executive Leadership Institutes.
Beyond his law enforcement career, Webb has been deeply involved in community service. He has spent over 18 years coaching youth basketball and baseball, was the Santa Fe Little League Vice President, worked with the Juvenile Justice Board, and served on local neighborhood associations. His passion for mentoring youth and giving back to his hometown reflects his commitment to service. Webb and his family can often be seen cheering on the youth in our community while they engage in sports.
